Fundamentals

Research in the National Park (dating back to when the park was founded in 1914), in the Biosfera Val Müstair Regional Nature Park (since 2010), and in the UNESCO Engiadina Val Müstair Biosphere Reserve (since 2015) is a requirement under Swiss law and an obligation towards UNESCO. The Swiss Academy of Sciences (SCNAT) is entrusted with the management of the research, which it carries out in close cooperation with the responsible bodies in the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and the National Park. The most important laws, treaties, and agreements are listed in chronological order below.

National Park Act (1980)
Contract (1981, in German)
Regulations of the Research Commission of the Swiss National Park (2022, in German)
Rules of Procedure of the Biosfera Committee (2010, in German)
Cooperation Agreement on the Biosphere Reserve (2015, in German)
