Research in the National Park
As a co-founder of the Swiss National Park, the Swiss Academy of Sciences (SCNAT) is responsible for research in the Swiss National Park. Since 1916, it has appointed the Research Commission of the Swiss National Park (FOK-SNP) for this purpose. Today, the research area includes the Swiss National Park, the Regional Nature Park Biosfera Val Müstair, and the care and development zone of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Engiadina Val Müstair (collectively referred to as SNP+). A detailed overview of the area can be found in the map below.
Conducting Your Own Research Projects
To conduct research in SNP+, researchers must submit their project proposal to the FOK-SNP. More information on submitting projects can be found here.
Important:
- Due to the conservation regulations of the SNP, clear rules apply to conducting research projects. Please read the guidelines for research in SNP+ carefully before submitting your project.
- The FOK-SNP provides financial support for certain research and monitoring projects, as well as for young researchers. Further details can be found here.
- The strategic direction of research in SNP+ is outlined in the research strategy.
By conducting a research project in SNP+, you also contribute to the public outreach of the SNP+. The findings obtained through research are processed and made accessible to the wider public through SCNAT and SNP communication channels, such as blogs and popular science publications like Cratschla.
We look forward to your research projects!
